As I see things, this current pandemic is shaping up to be the perfect formula for putting on weight; more time spent in the house close to treats, poor sleep through worry (which makes you more likely to snack on sugary and fatty foods), gyms and fitness classes closing, stress eating through the worry and uncertainty of it all, and having less reasons to stay in shape with holidays cancelled and being tucked away in your house away from the world.

So here are some tips to get you through this and out the other end of it with your body still intact:

Tip 1: Write down why being/staying healthy and being healthy weight is important to you. Get as many reasons as down as possible and put it on your fridge.

Tip 2: Keep moving, even if we do end up in lockdown you must keep moving. Remember your NEAT levels (see article if this is a term you are unfamiliar with or needed reminded about).

Tip 3: Create an environment that supports you, not hinders you. Keep the rubbish foods out your house but if you do need to have them keep them out of sight. For more ideas in how to make your house more conducive to weight loss/weight management see this article we wrote previously.

Tip 4: If you are moving less because of the isolation then reducing calories would be a good idea to try and keep the energy in/energy out tipped in weight losses favours.

Tip 5: If you are keeping well try and get some form of structured workouts done 3-5 times per week.

Paul
