First of myself and the team at Get Results fitness would like to wish you a happy new year. We hope that 2015 will be a very healthy and prosperous year for you.

Ok so I am guessing you are starting to plan your fitness goals for 2015? If you have tried getting healthy in previous years but never really managed to see it through to the point that you got great results or have never gotten to the stage where you feel you can maintain the results you have achieved easily, there can be common threads to why people fail. Today I wanted to lay these out for you so as you can identify any that you have made and then hopefully avoid making the same mistakes this year.

Mistake 1: Not setting clear goals

Is your goal to lose weight and get fit? If you answered yes I can almost guarantee that you are destined to fail again. These goals are too vague. Successful people write down specific goals, highlight when they are going to achieve these by and then act as if they have already achieved them. By doing this you will be setting your mind set for success

Mistake 2: Not having the knowledge

If you have tried to lose weight or get healthy before and failed, it can often be due to a knowledge gap. There is likely something you are doing or not doing that is limiting you from succeeding, there is more information available than ever before but the percentage of people getting results with their health and fitness plan has not grown alongside this increase in available knowledge .

If you get trusted expert advice that can help you overcome this knowledge gap you will greatly increase your chance of success!

Mistake 3: No accountability

Are you currently only accountable to yourself for your health and fitness plan? If yes it can be very easy to talk yourself out of doing what it is you need to do.

When you have accountability with someone else, you are much more likely to stick with it, as most people do not like letting others down.

Your accountability can be with someone who has pledged to go on the health journey with you; it could be with a trainer who is guiding you; or you could increase your accountability by telling others what you plan to do.

Mistake 4 : Repeating the same mistake you made before

There is a great quote from Jim Rohn that reads “if you always do what you have always done you will always get what you have always gotten”. This rule can be applied to your health and fitness plan. If your plan is to try the same as you did last year but this time just try a little harder. You are almost certainly destined to. You have to approach it from a different angle to avoid making the mistake again.

Mistake 5: Not surrounding yourself with the right people

It has been said we are the average of the 5 people we spend the most time with.  Often it can be the people around us that are contributing to our down fall.

Some people don’t like to see you succeed as it highlights the weaknesses they have themselves. How often have you found that people in the office bring you in cakes when they know you are trying to be healthy? Subconsciously they are trying to bring you down to make them feel better about themselves.

When it comes to relationships, we are greatly influenced — whether we like it or not — by those closest to us. It affects our way of thinking, our self-esteem, and our decisions. Of course, everyone is their own person, but if you spend a lot of time with people who are unhealthy and that are not motivated to make changes you can find yourself going along with them just to fit in.

You have to surround yourself with positive people who support and inspire you to make change. We all have those people in our life who when we spend time with them we come away feeling full of motivation and positivity. Try and spend more time with them and mirror the behaviors that have led them to the success you crave.

At Get Results fitness we have helped hundreds of men and women look better, feel better and move better. This January we are offering FREE body transformation session that will guarantee you avoid these common mistakes.  We only have a few spaces available for this results guaranteed program so drop us an email today to reserve your space.
