Well 2018 passed in quite a blur, the number of clients we worked with grew significantly allowing us to help more people achieve great things with their health and fitness and we have immensely enjoyed being a part of their journey every step of the way. 2018 also saw both Neil and myself be blessed with a baby boy (for me) and a baby girl (for Neil) both within a few weeks of each other, so we both figure if we can survive that we can easily handle anything that this year has to throw at us (and thanks for not mentioning the bags under the eyes we are now both sporting!). We also looked on enviously in 2018 as Jim cycled the North Coast 500 with is brother, which looked great fun and was great achievement by Jim.

Anyway 2019 has a lot of exciting stuff in store for our wee community as we hope to get bigger and better, help more people like you and get together more often in a social setting as these are always great fun.

To grow we are looking to recruit another member of staff to our team, so if you know of anyone that you think would be suitable and would like to come and join us. We specialise in working with over 50’s and are passionate about helping our clients look better, feel better and move better. The ideal candidate will have this goal at the heart of their training, along with great communication skills and an eagerness to learn. I would be very grateful if you could pass on our details.

Over the next few months we will also be heavily involved in the new gym being launched in Whitecraigs tennis club, this will see a significant improvement on the fitness offering at the club and we are very excited to be part of this project. If you are in the Southside and are looking for a small and friendly gym I would highly recommend this gym. Phase one which will involve decorating the cardio room and getting new equipment will begin in the next few weeks. The strength and conditioning room will involve some building work and will hopefully be in place for spring time.

Social Events

One of the main ways that we plan to get together more often will be through our social walks. This is open to everyone so feel free to bring your friends and family ; dogs and kids along. We will announce a date and time and where we are meeting then you simply shop up and we will all go for a nice walk together. If there is a café nearby I dare a well earned tea and cake might be an option.

The first social walk will be:

March the 17th at 11am in Mugdock park

We would love to see you there.

We will also look to host another Yoga and Food day at the Western Tennis club where will do a Beginners Yoga Class followed by some tasty nibble supplied by Café’ Parmas.

Charity Events

This year will also see us enter teams into the Edinburgh Marathon Hairy Haggis Relay event for the third year in a row. Each year has been a great success and has really helped inspire some of our clients to get running and take part in an amazing event. If you are up for the challenge, the legs range from 4 miles up to 8.5 miles and the teams we enter are very much made up of mixed abilities. So please do not be put off if you think you are too slow to get involved, that really is not the case. One of our main aims is to give you the confidence to start running. Please speak to me, Neil or Julie and we will tell you what it is like!

We will also be creating an online community within the teams where you will receive lots of advice and support and will meet up at a parkrun to get to know each other and get the legs moving a bit. The run will be on Sunday the 26th of May.

Myself and Julie Gordon will be aiming to raise money for two of our chosen charities again which are MS Society Scotland and Playlist For Life (Music and Dementia charity). To raise extra funds for the charities we will be hosting a Hairy Haggis Extravaganza Quiz Night. So even if you are not planning on joining the running part of the event you can come along and support us with a fun night out. The Hairy Haggis Extravaganza Quiz we will be held on May the 4th. So save the date! The venue has still to be confirmed.

Sally Magnusson has agreed again to be our quiz master and we may be doing a Mastermind special, so if you have any chosen subjects you excel in , this could be a fun event for you! As soon as we know, we will let you know and hopefully you can get it in your diary.

We are also looking for prizes so if there is anything you can contribute or get your hands on that would be very much appreciated. The event is open to everyone so if you have friends or family who would enjoy the event please bring them along. Our aim between the race and the Quiz night is to raise £5000 for these two important charities. Your support in achieving this will be greatly received

So and exciting year ahead in many ways, and if there is anything you think we have missed or would like to see us introduce please get in touch.

Paul
