October has been another exciting month for everyone at Get Results Fitness!

We hosted our annual social/charity event, lots of clients achieving amazing stuff and our habit changing program continues with gusto!

Charity Event

Our annual charity/social walk for MS Society took place on October the 8th. We all met at Whitelee Windfarm and went for a lovely walk up to the viewpoint and back. It was great to see everyone chatting and getting to know each other a little better and all the kids and dogs had a ball (except when our Jackson managed to get stuck in a bog before being rescued by one of our group!).   We were lucky with great weather and feeling revitalised from the walk, we headed back to Whitecraigs tennis club for some delicious food served by one of Glasgow’s top chefs Drew Murray and our vegan foody friend Georgina.

Through ticket sales, donations on the day and online donations we raised an amazing:

£1,085 For MS Society taking our total for the year to £2,195!

(along with the Quiz Night and Edinburgh Relay Event)

I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who attended, those who donated and those who handed in some pretty amazing prizes.  The generosity shown again is so special.

October also saw many of our clients take part in the Great Scottish Run.  It was lovely to hear the stories of how much enjoyment everyone took from seeing their hard work pay off on the day with lots of personal bests and clients happy to get through the distance.   All three of the Get Results team also took part on the day and we all agreed about how well organised it was and how it is a great way to see our lovely city (even in the rain!).

Star Client

Every month we also like to highlight the achievements of some of our clients. And this month we wanted to speak about Anne:

Anne joined our Small Group program in March this year after being recommended by a friend.  Anne told us she felt unfit, frumpy and was fed up looking at “midriff bulge”. She also had painful wrists and knees due to arthritis. Lifestyle-wise Anne felt that she was drinking too much alcohol although her diet was fairly healthy.

Anne aims to attends classes with her husband as many times per week as her schedule will allow, and already this has led to her achieving some great results; 10 pounds lost, wrist and knees much better, she’s managed to increases weights gradually, and has increased flexibility and improvement in her posture (“helping to lift my new little grandson as he grows bigger”), as well as resting heart rate decreasing from greater than 75 to less than 65…

What is so great about Anne’s achievements however is that she has managed all this whilst regularly travelling down south to help her family out with the grandkids. It would have been very easy for Anne to say that it just wasn’t possible for her to lose weight at this time, because she was not in her normal routine.  However, Anne has made it work for her. She hits her 12,000 steps target every day, sticks to her eating plan as well as she can and gets to the sessions as often as she can. What is also great about Anne’s journey is that these results have encouraged her to take up badminton again and commit to walking the West Highland Way next year. A really great example of how consistency pays, so a big well done Anne and keep up the great work!

Facebook Group

In our Facebook group it is great to hear how everyone is getting on and we are focusing on the benefits of eating adequate protein each day and sharing some recipes that are high in protein and tips on how to meet your protein needs.

So with just over two months of 2017 left our focus will now be to get as many of our members finishing 2017 fitter and stronger than when they started the year!

Thanks,
Paul
